CS 373 Fall 2021 Blogs: Week of 20 Sep - 26 Sep
What did you do this past week?
This past week I graded the third assignment for 312, which was creating a special optical illusion grid in Java using graphics. I also planned out my iOS project with my group and my SWE group finalized our idea for the website we want to make. I held discussion section on Monday for my 312 students where we did some practice for their upcoming exam next week.
What's in your way?
I have an online assessment for Cisco and TikTok I need to complete to see if I can move on to the next round of interviews. I also have a phone screen with Facebook that I've been doing nothing but studying for. I've heard that Facebook only asks Leetcode Medium or above difficulties so I'm nervous they may ask me something I don't know how to solve.
What will you do next week?
Next week I'll continue studying for my online assessments and phone screen. I'll also try to apply to a few more places to see if I can get more interview opportunities. I will also begin to work on my group projects somehow, but my groups haven't discussed the specifics of that yet.
If you read it, what did you think of the Paper #5: Pair Programming?
I thought it was a good article. I wish there was more pair programming in industry. The company I worked for over the summer didn't have any pair programming and honestly I would have felt much more confident in my work if I had the chance to work with another person.
What was your experience of Python's object model, list, tuple, set, dict, and iterators? (this question will vary, week to week)
I wasn't really familiar with them and I'm glad I got to learn more about them. I'm excited to use more of Python during our project.
What made you happy this week?
I'm hanging out with my boyfriend right now!
What's your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?
My pick of the week is Leetcode. I've been using this site non-stop since I've started recruiting and in the past I've had interviewers ask me questions directly from that website. I highly recommend it for anyone who wants practice interviewing!
