CS 373 Fall 2021 Week of 4 Oct - 10 Oct

What did you do this past week?

This past week my group and I finished our first phase for the SWE project. I was in charge of making the instance pages for the cities and filling out the model page for cities with more information. I also had a couple interviews lined up this past week and funny enough, my Facebook interview happened to be at the same time as the outage on Monday so I had to get it rescheduled for this upcoming Tuesday. I finished working on an iOS UI design document for my iOS class and finished grading 312 assignments. I also finished the first big phase for my video game technology class!

What's in your way?

The only big thing in my way right now is the sheer workload I have for all my classes. All of my classes are project based classes and while that isn't a bad thing, trying to juggle so many large projects at the same time is a bit overwhelming.

What will you do next week?

Next week I'll continue to work on the SWE project along with the projects for my other classes. I'll keep preparing for job interviews as well, and hopefully the Facebook interview goes without any issues.

If you read it, what did you think of the Paper #7: Open-Closed Principle? 

This paper I had to read already back in OOP so it wasn't anything new for me.

What was your experience of operators, and iteration? (this question will vary, week to week)

I don't get to explicitly use iterators very often but I think it's important to have a good grasp of what goes on under the hood when you iterate over a data structure. It's interesting how Python handles things.

What made you happy this week?

I got ramen for dinner with my friends yesterday so that was fun!

What's your pick-of-the-week?

My pick of the week is Godot. Godot is an open source game engine that is pretty easy to pick up and create 3D games with, and is what my game tech class uses to create our projects in. https://godotengine.org/

 1. What did you do this past week? This past week I held discussion section for my 312 students for the first time. I also graded their second assignment last night, which grades were not so great. I had a meeting with my manager from my summer internship yesterday and found out that I did not receive a return offer for a full time position unfortunately, so I've also been practicing Leetcode to prepare for future interviews. 2. What's in your way? I need to finish a Game Technology homework that has been rather puzzling so far. I also need to finish my iOS mobile development homework as well. CS 373 Fall 2021 Week 8/30

What did you do this past week? This week I had my first office hours for the class I TA for, CS 312. I also started the Collatz assignment and managed to pass the HackerRank test cases. I got assigned my first homework assignment for iOS mobile programming and started thinking about how to work that out. What's in your way? I need to finish this blog, then I need to create my acceptance and unit tests for Collatz. I also need to start on my iOS mobile programming assignment which is in Swift, and I need to read up on the syntax for that language. What will you do next week? My goal for this next week is to finish the Collatz assignment, finish my iOS mobile computing homework, and start grading the first homework assignment for CS 312. CS 373 Fall 2021 Week of 8 Nov - 14 Nov

What did you do this past week? This past week my group and I worked on implementing sorting, filtering, and searching through the backend for phase 3, half of which was done for us since we're using Flask Restless. We did have to manually implement the search feature though, but luckily it wasn't too bad as we referenced our TA's code and it was easy to understand. I also worked on coming up with a final project for my Game Tech class, where we decided that we will be creating a PvP turn based combat game, similar to Pokemon in nature. I also started working on the final release of our app project with my iOS group, where our next step will be implementing map functionalities. What's in your way?
