CS373 Fall 2021: Debbie Wong: Final Entry
- How well do you think the course conveyed those takeaways?
- I think the course did okay, not spectacular since the only time you really use those takeaways about Python is in the class exercises and not the actual projects.
- Were there any other particular takeaways for you?
- Reading documentation is really important!
- How did you feel about cold calling?
- Cold calling keeps me on my toes, which I think is helpful.
- How did you feel about specifications grading?
- I think the specifications grading was a bit much to handle sometimes. There's lots to keep track of and it's hard to keep track of what else needs to be done in order not to get a bad grade.
- How did you feel about help sessions and office hours?
- They were really helpful and the TAs really know their stuff.
- How did you feel about the support from the TAs?
- Having a TA to support us was really helpful. It was nice to talk with them often since there was a lot of things to keep track of during the project.
- What required tool did you not know and now find very useful?
- PostgreSQL I was not familiar with but I see the importance of it because of how well structured it was to display our data.
- What's the most helpful Web dev tool that your group used that was not required?
- Flask Restless did sorting and filtering for us which was super helpful.
- How did you feel about your group having to self-teach many, many technologies?
- I personally don't like these kinds of classes since I get lost trying to learn things on my own most the time.
- Give me your suggestions for improving the course, but apologies in advance; specifications grading will remain.
- I think the grading scheme isn't the best. It sucks having to manage these virtual token all the time, plus the added pressure of receiving a B in the class just because you forgot to do Perusall readings. I also don't like Perusall at all; I feel some of the articles are really opinionated and don't apply to modern day technologies.
